The game combines combat, puzzles, and overworld exploration across dungeons that can be tackled in different orders. Four weapons also function as puzzle tools and can be upgraded by finding additional copies. Secret Shards open extra challenge dungeons, while warp points provide fast travel. The Ittle Dew 2+ update adds a dream area containing five puzzle-focused dungeons, collectible cards found there, and a mode that reduces damage and can be changed from the pause menu. The overworld also includes shortcuts, mysterious inhabitants, loot, and randomized events.
