Our take on eSail Sailing Simulator

Its focus on boat handling and navigation sacrifices the physical and mental aspects of real sailing. The simulator can represent sails, weather, charts, and anchoring, but it cannot reproduce the full demands of piloting an actual vessel or replace qualified instruction.

What is eSail Sailing Simulator?

eSail simulates yacht sailing through tutorials, sailing controls, mooring, anchoring, charting, races, treasure hunts, passage planning, and obstacle courses.

Its “Learn Yachting with eSail” course contains 20 interactive tutorials covering tasks such as raising sails, tacking, gybing, reefing, anchoring, mooring, and sail trim. Live Sailing mode lets players explore the Shearwater Islands with changing wind, waves, and storms while listening to VHF forecasts and saving their position and boat setup. Challenges test racing tactics, steering, anchor placement, treasure collection, and route planning. The simulation cannot reproduce the physical and mental demands of real sailing and is not a substitute for qualified instruction.

How eSail Sailing Simulator plays

01Interactive tutorials: The learning course contains 20 modules covering sail handling, anchoring, mooring, chart use, and advanced trim.
02Open-water exploration: Live Sailing mode saves the current position and boat configuration while players visit locations and collect points of interest around the Shearwater Islands.
03Dynamic weather: Moving pressure systems create changing wind and wave conditions, with landmasses producing sheltered areas and storm effects.
04Chart-based navigation: A charting module provides dividers, a plotter, and a pencil for planning courses and checking positions against navigation lights.
05Sailing challenges: Activities include races, treasure hunts, buoy courses, anchoring tests, and passage planning between named locations.
06Boat handling controls: Players operate sails, control lines, winches, travellers, cleats, and jammers, with an AutoSail mode available for beginners.
