SimulationIs Sailwind worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Sailing simulation fans who want to manage wind, sails, and navigation rather than focus on combat.
- Exploration-minded players who prefer island-hopping and open-water trips over linear levels.
- Players who enjoy survival routines involving food and water during long voyages.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking fast-paced action may find the sailing and navigation routine slow, especially during long crossings.
- Players looking for a tightly directed sequence of missions may find the open-ended voyages and island exploration too loose.
- Players who want a combat-focused adventure may find the emphasis on sailing, trading, fishing, and supplies a mismatch.
Our take on Sailwind
Rather than structuring the adventure around rapid encounters, Sailwind makes sailing itself the central activity. Route-finding, sail handling, weather, and provisioning shape the journey, including crossings that can take many hours of real time.
What is Sailwind?
Sail through three island regions with distinct climates, architecture, and economies.
Choose from six boats with different sizes and sail plans, then manage sails by tacking, reefing in heavy weather, and responding to wind direction. Use instruments such as a compass and quadrant, along with the sun, stars, and map, to determine position and stay on course. Activities include cargo delivery, fishing, cooking, exploration, and trading. Long ocean journeys require food and water, while changing weather, waves, and high winds create hazards. Customize the boat with furniture, decorations, and paint, and explore islands after anchoring or docking.
How Sailwind plays
- 01Navigation Instruments
- The compass, quadrant, sun, stars, and map provide several ways to determine position and heading.
- 02Six Boats
- Each vessel has its own size, sail plan, sailing characteristics, and performance.
- 03Survival Supplies
- Food and water must be stocked for long ocean journeys where reaching land can take many hours.
- 04Dynamic Economy
- Goods can be bought at lower prices and sold at higher prices for profit.
- 05Boat Customization
- Furniture, decorations, and paint can be used to change the boat's interior and appearance.
