Saves you a refund- Players seeking an exact reproduction of real-world sailing procedures
- Players who want polished, conventional sailing-game controls rather than deliberately awkward handling
- Players looking for a broad fleet beyond the three currently available vessels
Our take on SailSim
Players may bounce off when the deliberately awkward controls begin affecting vessel handling. Those expecting standard sailing-game inputs can meet that friction early, particularly while managing sails, boom direction, rudder behavior, and changing wind effects.
What is SailSim?
SailSim is a sailing simulator built around basic sailing principles, vessel handling, and introductory learning.
Players can try three vessels: Laser, Catalina 22, and Sabre Spirit 37. Courses cover boat parts, sailing terminology, symbols, and equipment, while exploration, simple adventures, competitions, achievements, and score chasing provide additional activities. Sailing systems include keel, rudder, boom, sail, jib, spinnaker, reefing, engine, fuel, wind, drift, heel, and potential capsize effects. Wind and vessel behavior respond to factors such as direction, velocity, mass, and turning. The simulator also includes controller support. Some controls are intentionally awkward to represent the experience of handling a sailboat independently, and the vendor says it is not an exact reproduction of real sailing.
