Our take on Death by Scrolling
The constant vertical advance gives the game its defining pressure, but sacrifices downtime for exploration or planning. The Reaper also remains an obstacle rather than a conventional boss, limiting how encounters with that threat can be resolved.
What is Death by Scrolling?
Death by Scrolling is an action game set in a chaotic Purgatory managed as a business.
Each run moves upward through endless levels while players choose characters with different abilities and perks, battle underworld creatures and bosses, and evade the Reaper. The Reaper can be stunned or dodged but cannot be killed. Gold and gems can be used with vendors during runs to obtain upgrades, power-ups, and abilities. Bonus challenges and side quests appear at the tops of levels and offer additional rewards. Humorous dialogue and narration provide a playful take on afterlife bureaucracy. Leaderboards let players compare their purgatorial performance. The objective is to survive long enough to pay the Ferryman’s fee for passage across the river.
