Our take on Dark Sky
The layered card, party, and grid systems trade immediate simplicity for tactical control. Preparing decks, choosing upgrades, reading enemy intentions, and positioning characters all add decisions before and during each battle.
What is Dark Sky?
Dark Sky combines role-playing, deckbuilding, and turn-based grid combat.
Assemble a party, combine character cards into a combat deck, and customize heroes through individual branching upgrade trees. During battles, study enemy intentions, move across the grid, and decide whether to avoid incoming attacks or remain exposed for a better shot. Status effects can be combined to create additional reactions. Resources gathered during the campaign can be used to craft cards, while multiple decks can be saved for different situations. The story follows a mystery on Wolf Prime, a frontier mining planet where spaceships are being pulled from the sky. Playable characters have distinct card sets, abilities, personalities, and tactical roles, including defensive barriers, long-range electrical attacks, and fast movement.

Dark Sky compared to similar games
Dark Sky combines character-focused deckbuilding, branching card upgrades, party selection, and grid positioning within a narrative RPG campaign. Shogun Showdown also features turn-based combat and deck development, but its description focuses on attack tiles, combo timing, skills, and confronting the Shogun rather than managing a party in a planetary mystery.
