Our take on Coin-Op Vice
Its defining structure is the arcade-machine loop: each mission sends the detective through changing buildings to play short games, with cartridge rewards shaping the available weapons and abilities.
What is Coin-Op Vice?
Coin-Op Vice is a top-down retro action game about a detective investigating arcade centers damaged by a cosmic beam.
Visitors have become monsters, and arcade machines launch more than 100 short mini-games, including platformers and versions of Arkanoid, Xonix, Digger, and Snake. Rooms, maps, and building structures are procedurally generated for each mission. Completing an arcade awards two random cartridges that can provide skills, weapons, or abilities. Combining two cartridges creates a higher-level cartridge, while the detective’s rank determines deck size. The game includes 8 main missions, daily random missions after the main ones, monster hordes with distinct behavior, and a terminal-based mode that grants 15 seconds of invulnerability and reveals hidden wall passages.
