Our take on Squirreltopia
The page emphasizes difficult platforming, but the game also spreads its structure across an overworld, selectable level order, hidden cartridge mini-games, time trophies, and secret cheat items. Those systems receive less attention than the squirrel theme and physics.
What is Squirreltopia?
Squirreltopia is a difficult 2D platformer centered on squirrels.
Shadow-tail, a robotic squirrel, has kidnapped the squirrels and taken their gems and acorns. The game includes 50 levels, each with its own visual style and a randomly selected squirrel. An overworld contains entrances to new levels, which can be played in any order. Movement uses momentum and squirrel physics, while boss battles and a full original soundtrack support the main campaign. Hidden retro game cartridges unlock mini-games. Players can attempt to earn time trophies and discover secret cheat items. The game can be played with one hand, and a new squirrel is used for each life as well as each level.
