Our take on Breachway
Rather than centering on a fixed campaign or a single upgrade path, the game combines deck construction with ship fitting, crew relationships, faction politics, and repeated galaxy runs. Combat choices depend on the selected loadout and the cards it produces, making preparation part of each battle.
What is Breachway?
Breachway is a sci-fi roguelike built around deckbuilding, ship customization, crew management, and turn-based battles.
Each run sends a warship through the galaxy to investigate The Signal while gathering equipment, recruiting crew, and making choices during narrative encounters. Ship chassis determine available weapon systems, defensive upgrades, internal modules, and associated cards. Victorious encounters provide further cards and upgrades. Crew members operate equipment, contribute individual skills, and bring morale, personalities, allegiances, and faction relationships to manage. Battles involve resource generation, cooldown timing, enemy equipment, shields, hulls, and defensive countermeasures. Four factions, including the Solarii, Numen, Starkin, and Free Roamers, shape access to arsenals and the unfolding story. Each run presents different events, risks, rewards, and routes through the galaxy.
How Breachway plays
- 01Ship-based deckbuilding
- Chassis choices determine the weapon, defense, module, and card options available during a run.
- 02Crew relationship management
- Crew members have morale, personal traits, allegiances, skills, and connections to the factions encountered.
- 03Turn-based card combat
- Battles require timing cooldowns, targeting enemy equipment, managing resources, and choosing between offensive and defensive actions.
- 04Faction-driven encounters
- Relationships with four factions can affect the story and provide access to different arsenals.
- 05Run-based progression
- New equipment, crew, cards, and upgrades accumulate across attempts while events create different journeys.
