RPGIs Helmetman worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Deckbuilding fans who want story events alongside card combat
- Players who enjoy choosing skills and collecting items during RPG-style progression
- Roguelike fans looking for randomized stages and run resets
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking uninterrupted progress through runs may find character and deck resets after battle deaths restrictive.
- Those looking for a short, fixed sequence of encounters may not want a mode with 56 randomly placed stages.
- Players seeking a relationship-focused story may find that this element is uncertain and secondary to the main objective.
Our take on Helmetman
The run-based mode makes failure costly: a battle death resets both the deck and character. That structure gives each attempt a distinct risk, but it also limits continuity between runs; collected points provide a separate form of character strengthening.
What is Helmetman?
Helmetman combines card battles with visual-novel storytelling.
In Story Mode, patrol the city, resolve cases, help citizens, meet characters, and work toward defeating the Dokkaebi Gang and reclaiming Old Town. Battles use deckbuilding, card combinations, and combo systems. Gain experience, level up, choose skills, and collect foods and relics to face obstacles. Roguelike Mode has 4 major chapters and 56 randomly placed stages. The deck and character reset if Helmetman dies in battle, while points earned during a run can be spent to strengthen the character. Story Mode focuses on events and the protagonist’s story; Roguelike Mode offers a more demanding run-based challenge.
