Our take on Bounty Train
Its defining structure is a customizable steam locomotive that functions as both transport and a fortified base, carrying the crew through a non-linear historical campaign where trade, scarce resources, faction loyalties, and encounter choices shape the journey.
What is Bounty Train?
Bounty Train is a strategy and simulation game set in 19th-century North America.
Players obtain and customize a steam locomotive, recruit a crew, and travel between real-life cities while trading goods and transporting passengers. Resources are limited, equipment can be unreliable, and encounters may involve diplomacy, violence, or bribery. The journey includes chase fights, ambushes, quests, bandits, and historical events and inventions. Players can influence the story, reunite with their family, and attempt to prevent the forced removal of Native peoples. Four major factions provide different affiliations, with the option to change sides during the campaign.
How Bounty Train plays

- The locomotive can be expanded and fitted with varied equipment to serve as a mobile stronghold.
- 02Crew Management
- A recruited team travels with the train and takes part in overcoming dangers across North America.
- 03Resource-Limited Travel
- Scarce supplies and unreliable technology affect decisions during trade, transport, pursuits, and ambushes.
- 04Faction Switching
- The campaign offers four large factions and allows allegiance to change during play.
- 05Historical Story
- The non-linear campaign visits real cities and lets choices alter historical events and inventions.
