Our take on Beyond the Chiron Gate
The game gives up direct action and ship piloting in favor of text-based events, crew decisions, and exploration. That focus leaves moment-to-moment combat outside the described design, while permanent death makes risky choices carry lasting consequences.
What is Beyond the Chiron Gate?
Venture through a procedurally created cosmos in this text-driven roguelike.
Direct a team of explorers, install advanced equipment aboard their vessel, and examine hazardous planets, unusual organisms, and long-lost civilisations while collecting information on the Gatebuilders. Unpredictable incidents may involve planetary dangers, meetings with cultures or lifeforms, and shifts in crew morale. Exploration unfolds through several levels, where each discovery opens additional avenues of investigation. Six specialist types offer distinct choices during encounters. Crew members advance, may be wounded or killed, and can experience inspiration or depression. Death cannot be reversed, so excessive danger can terminate an expedition. Completing the main objective opens an unlimited continuation mode, accompanied by atmospheric music.
