Our take on Noah's Dilemma
Its defining mechanic is tactical crew placement, combining sudoku-like positioning with animal abilities and autochess-inspired team interactions during each ark voyage.
What is Noah's Dilemma?
Noah’s Dilemma is a strategy roguelike about assembling animal sailors and steering an ark through four dangerous seas.
Placement-based play draws from sudoku and autochess, while crew abilities, animal traits, effects, items, and relics create tactical combinations. A procedurally generated map includes islands, treasures, hot springs, altars, villages, and other encounters. Battles pit the crew against the Coral-Born, with each sea governed by a boss. A successful run typically lasts around 2 to 5 hours, and the game expects 5 to 10 attempts before a first victory. Afterward, two additional characters, six tougher quests, and a 10-level challenge mode become available.
How Noah's Dilemma plays
- 01Animal Crew Building
- Recruit animals as sailors and combine their abilities, traits, effects, and synergies while preparing the ark.
- 02Procedural Sea Map
- Each voyage traverses a generated route containing islands, treasures, hot springs, altars, villages, and other events.
- 03Four Sea Bosses
- Progress through four distinct sea regions, each controlled by its own major enemy.
- 04Post-Victory Challenges
- Victory opens two more playable characters, six additional quests, and a 10-level challenge mode.
Noah's Dilemma compared to similar games
Noah’s Dilemma combines a roguelike run structure with animal crew building, tactical placement, procedural sea exploration, and ark-focused progression. Quasimorph also uses high-stakes roguelike missions, but centers on cyberpunk contracts, extraction, and a private military company that retains what it brings back. The other listed games focus on puzzles, prison escape, ocean exploration, or base defense rather than this placement-driven ark journey.
