Our take on Anoxia Station
Instead of treating mining as a purely economic loop, the game makes extraction a survival structure. Each sector advances the search while worsening environmental risks, and crew politics can become as dangerous as the underground itself.
What is Anoxia Station?
Anoxia Station is a turn-based strategy game with puzzle elements about managing a subterranean mining station in a dystopian 1988.
After a supervolcanic eruption makes Earth's surface uninhabitable, Terranaut crews descend into extreme depths to extract petroleum and support humanity's remaining infrastructure. Players mine resources, secure sectors, and search for a major crude-oil deposit across randomized maps. Heat, radiation, pressure, shifting rock, and other dangers create changing survival conditions. Injuries and deaths permanently reduce the crew, while stress can threaten the station. Crew selection, leadership, national rivalries, secret goals, and production needs shape decisions as the station moves through increasingly dangerous underground environments.
How Anoxia Station plays
- 01Randomized Underground Maps
- Each playthrough uses a different map as the crew searches through mined sectors for the oil deposit.
- 02Permanent Crew Losses
- Injuries and deaths reduce the available workforce for the rest of the mission.
- 03Crew Secret Goals
- Choosing the station leader and team changes the game through individual hidden objectives and rivalries.
- 04Environmental Hazards
- Pressure, heat, radiation, shifting rock, and deeper-layer dangers impose changing survival conditions.
- 05Resource Production
- Mining and securing sectors supports the crew and keeps the station's production lines operating.
Anoxia Station compared to similar games
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days centers on guiding zombie-apocalypse survivors, crafting weapons, scavenging, and balancing group needs, while Anoxia Station focuses on mining, petroleum extraction, crew objectives, and underground hazards. Until We Die is built around defending a subway base for about 30 game days against attacks, whereas Anoxia Station uses randomized maps, sector extraction, and a search for a crude-oil deposit.
