We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy automation games with changing resource environments
- Strategy fans who want to plan logistics under time pressure
- Solo players interested in contracts, equipment upgrades, and freighter expansion
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a permanent base may find the temporary asteroid operations restrictive
- Players who prefer relaxed pacing may dislike the need to extract materials before an asteroid leaves the claim
- Players looking for a combat-focused game may find mining, logistics, and contracts take priority over defense
Our take on Astronomics
The temporary-asteroid structure creates changing operational puzzles, but it also limits long-term construction on any single site. Infrastructure and logistics must be planned around a departure deadline, so the game sacrifices permanence for repeated adaptation.
What is Astronomics?
Astronomics is an asteroid-mining automation game built around temporary operations.
Procedurally generated asteroids enter a mining claim with different resources, properties, and hazards. Players pilot a Shuttle to the surface, gather materials, construct extraction equipment, and assign Workerbots to move resources. A Command bot manages increasingly complex logistics as operations shift from manual collection toward automated mining and transport. Materials return to the Freighter for manufacturing before goods are sold. Contracts include data collection, search-and-rescue work, and equipment production. Earnings fund equipment upgrades and Freighter expansion, while pirate attacks create a defensive concern. The game also includes exploration across asteroid regions and a longer-term goal of earning a Residency Permit on Earth.
How Astronomics plays
- 01Temporary mining sites
- Each procedurally generated asteroid leaves the claim, requiring extraction and transport plans that fit its available time.
- 02Workerbot logistics
- Workerbots carry materials around an asteroid while a Command bot organizes increasingly involved transport tasks.
- 03Freighter manufacturing
- Recovered materials are brought back to the Freighter for manufacturing before the resulting goods are sold.
- 04Contract progression
- Jobs include data collection, search-and-rescue operations, and equipment manufacturing.
- 05Pirate defense
- Mining equipment and gathered materials must be protected from pirates seeking to take them.
