Our take on AMEDAMA
The premise puts a seven-day deadline at the center, but the story also repeats that same period. The tension therefore comes from revisiting events and changing choices, rather than from a single uninterrupted countdown.
What is AMEDAMA?
AMEDAMA is a side-scrolling action adventure set in rain-soaked Japan near the end of the Edo period.
After Yushin is killed, he continues as a bodiless soul and possesses people and other bodies while searching for his sister, Yui. Each host grants access to different weapons and fighting styles, and the bodies encountered affect the foes and characters Yushin meets. Combat includes Misty Riposte, a counterattack technique that deals damage after an enemy strikes. The story follows a seven-day period that repeats, with choices about whom to speak with and how to intervene shaping what happens. The central goal is to find Yui before Yushin’s soul departs.
How AMEDAMA plays
- 01Body possession
- Changing hosts gives Yushin access to different weapons and combat styles, and changes which foes and characters he encounters.
- 02Repeating seven-day story
- Choices about conversations and interventions affect how events unfold across repeated cycles.
- 03Misty Riposte
- Yushin can counter an enemy’s attack to deal damage.
