Our take on Alpha Shark
The survival loop centers on eating to grow and avoid shrinking, so play is shaped by maintaining food intake. Its quieter screensaver and wallpaper modes trade active movement for a more static underwater view.
What is Alpha Shark?
Play as a great white shark in a large, semi-procedural coral reef.
Swim, eat fish and other sharks, explore hidden locations, and search for treasure. Eating makes the shark grow; going without enough food causes it to shrink. In multiplayer, players can join an open lobby, host a game, or invite friends through the Steam overlay. A lobby leaderboard displays its 10 largest sharks. The game also includes single-player screensaver and wallpaper modes: these use a more static swimming style, with wallpaper movement controlled by mouse clicks. Choose first- or third-person shark views, and play with keyboard and mouse or an Xbox controller. Text chat is available in multiplayer, but voice chat is not.
How Alpha Shark plays
- 01Growth and hunger
- The shark increases in size by eating and loses size when it does not get enough food.
- 02Lobby leaderboard
- A board ranks the 10 largest sharks in the current lobby.
- 03Screensaver mode
- This single-player mode removes the HUD and limits movement to create a more static underwater view.
- 04Wallpaper mode
- Movement in this mode is controlled with mouse clicks for use with Wallpaper Engine.
- 05Multiplayer lobbies
- Players can enter open games, host a lobby, or invite friends through the Steam overlay.
- 06Keyboard and controller
- Controls are available for both keyboard and mouse and an Xbox controller.
