What is Northern Regime?
Northern Regime: 1862 is a hardcore survival sandbox set in frozen Northern Dakota during the American Civil War.
Players explore a representation of the Fargo region built from geographical data while managing hunger, water, energy, and cold. Hunting deer provides between 1 and 3 pieces of meat, but running and firing a rifle consume energy and increase hunger. Confederate soldiers, bears, and other wildlife create ongoing threats. Enemy camps may contain food and water, although reaching them is risky.
The game includes crafting for weapons and ammunition, along with NPCs, settlements, travelers, traders, and refugees. Trading and coercion are planned but are not officially available. Northern Regime is in Early Access, with bugs, errors, incomplete interface translation, and less content than the planned full version.
