Our take on Deep Dark Forest
Rather than centering its RTS structure on troop combat, the game places limited information at the heart of strategic decisions. Players weigh concealment, contact, and coordinate exposure while managing the development and survival of a civilization.
What is Deep Dark Forest?
Deep Dark Forest is a real-time strategy game about developing a civilization and expanding into space.
Players build economic, research, and military facilities, choose congressional bills, and manage resources, technology, social stability, and public pressure. Exploration satellites reveal nearby areas, while military bases and spaceports support expansion and conflict. Other civilizations conceal information, so players gather and analyze what they can before choosing whether to stay hidden, communicate, or expose another civilization’s coordinates.
The game includes 10 single-player chapters, randomly generated maps, and multiplayer matches for up to 8 players. Players can create civilizations using different ideas, with 10 civilization trends and over 90 combinations. The game is still under development, and the English localization may contain translation errors or untranslated text.
