Our take on Aggelos
The focus on nonlinear exploration means progress depends on returning to areas as new abilities and equipment open further routes. That structure gives less emphasis to a tightly paced, level-by-level sequence.
What is Aggelos?
Aggelos is a nonlinear action RPG set in the Kingdom of Lumen, where beings from another dimension threaten to invade.
The adventure moves through forests, seas, caves, and ancient temples as the player seeks magical elements. The world gradually opens up as new abilities and equipment become available. Main quests and optional errands lead to encounters with bosses and their minions. Combat uses melee attacks, magical abilities, and stronger attacks that can be chained together against groups of enemies. The game uses 16-bit-style sprite art and a retro-inspired soundtrack, while its mechanics draw on modern action-game design.
How Aggelos plays
- 01Ability-Gated Exploration
- New abilities and equipment reveal further parts of the kingdom as the adventure progresses.
- 02Optional Errands
- Alongside main quests, the people of Lumen offer side tasks.
- 03Chained Attacks
- Magical powers and stronger moves can be linked to clear groups of enemies.
- 04Retro Presentation
- Sprite-based visuals and a chiptune soundtrack give the game a 16-bit-era style.
