Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want to retain most equipment and progress after a failed run may hit the permanent-death reset.
- Players seeking predictable maps or repeated visits to familiar areas may bounce off the continuously changing world.
- Players who prefer combat without preparation may struggle when encountering bosses before their character is ready.
Our take on Achaem!
The bounce point arrives after death: most purchases and run progress disappear, leaving cosmetic unlocks and discounted shop access as the main carryover. Players who need a stable map may also hit a wall when explored regions submerge permanently.
What is Achaem!?
Achaem is a sci-fi roguelike set in a world linked to the history of the Achaemenid Empire.
Each run takes place in a procedurally generated environment that forms as the character travels, with areas disappearing rather than returning. Walls, terrain, and enemies can be broken apart through physics-based destruction. Combat combines attacks, upward and ground dashes, aerial combos, and spells activated by trinkets. Enemies range from swarms and heavily armored foes to projectile-focused attackers, while bosses require preparation. Character progression uses weapons, shields, trinkets, and stat investment. Coins fund equipment purchases, and cosmetic customization persists after death, while most run progress is lost.
How Achaem! plays
- 01Procedural World

- 02Destructible Environments

- 03Combo-Based Combat

- 04Equipment Progression
- Weapons, shields, and trinkets determine the stats used to develop a combat style.
- 05Persistent Cosmetics
