Our take on Abyss Odyssey
The changing level structure gives up a fixed, predictable route through the game. Combat also requires attention to character-specific attacks, enemy abilities, equipment effects, and combo practice rather than relying on one repeated move set.
What is Abyss Odyssey?
Abyss Odyssey is a side-scrolling action adventure built around combo-based fighting and procedurally generated levels.
Players choose from three heroes, each with distinctive attacks, skills, weapons, and accessories. Defeated enemies can be possessed, including bosses, providing access to more than 30 additional characters and their combat abilities. Rooms, traps, enemy placements, equipment, items, and encounters vary on each entry into the Abyss. The campaign supports solo play and cooperative multiplayer through online or local drop-in play. A separate versus mode supports up to four players in free-for-all or team arenas. The setting combines late-19th-century Santiago with Chilean folklore and mythology, while its visual style draws on Art Nouveau.
