We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- First-person puzzle fans who want several possible approaches to each challenge
- Solo players who enjoy experimenting with object size, movement, and gravity
- Portal-inspired puzzle fans who want abilities that can also affect the player character
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want tightly signposted puzzle solutions may stall when abilities can be combined in different ways.
- Those seeking combat-focused action may bounce off the game’s emphasis on first-person puzzle solving.
- Players who do not enjoy experimenting with physics-like object interactions may find the ability system demanding.
Our take on Hypermind
The bounce point is the combination system. Players expecting each room to point toward one obvious ability may hit a wall when Apply Velocity, Lock, Enlarge, and Anti-gravity can be mixed. Self-casting adds another layer when the player character becomes a target for the powers.
What is Hypermind?
Hypermind is a first-person puzzle game centered on four abilities: Apply Velocity, Lock, Enlarge, and Anti-gravity.
Apply Velocity moves cubes or activates controllers remotely. Lock fixes a cube in place or keeps a controller pressed or released. Enlarge doubles a cube’s size and mass, while Anti-gravity reverses its gravity. Players can combine these abilities to find different ways through a series of puzzles. Advanced Lock preserves a cube’s status while another cube receives Enlarge or Anti-gravity. Most abilities can also be cast on the player, allowing movement, locking, and enlargement. Progress therefore depends on testing interactions between the player, cubes, controllers, and the available powers.
How Hypermind plays
- 01Four core abilities
