Our take on 2100
The focus on one hostile AI gives the conflict a narrow identity, but it also limits enemy variety. Scarce equipment adds pressure to exploration and combat, trading flexibility for decisions about when to spend available resources.
What is 2100?
Set in 2100, this action-adventure game places a lone researcher on a space station involved in humanity’s Mars colonization effort.
The station’s artificial intelligence malfunctions and repeatedly attempts to kill the player, who must investigate what happened, survive its attacks, and escape back to Earth. Exploration spans a large station divided into different sectors, with realistic environmental elements and effects. The story unfolds during exploration as ordinary conditions give way to abnormal events. Resource management is central: equipment is limited, so decisions about its use affect the attempt to leave the station while the hostile AI remains active.
How 2100 plays
- 01Story-led exploration
- The narrative develops as the researcher investigates unusual events across the station.
- 02Sector-based station
- Multiple station areas provide spaces to explore and contain realistic environmental objects.
- 03Hostile station AI
- The malfunctioning artificial intelligence serves as the sole enemy and attacks during the escape attempt.
- 04Limited equipment
- Scarce resources require choices about when and how available equipment is used.
