Our take on Atomfall
The bounce point arrives when ammunition becomes scarce: players who rely on firearms must manage heart rate and energy while switching to hand-to-hand attacks. Those expecting a straightforward mystery may also hit resistance when conversation, investigation, exploration, and consequential choices become part of solving it.
What is Atomfall?
Atomfall is a survival-action game set in Northern England five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster.
Players explore a fictional quarantine zone containing rural villages, natural caves, nuclear bunkers, and ruins controlled by cults. The game combines exploration, conversation, investigation, and combat as players unravel connected narratives shaped by their choices. Scavenging provides supplies, while crafting produces weapons and other items; bartering is another way to interact with the setting. Ammunition is scarce, so encounters combine marksmanship with hand-to-hand fighting. Heart-rate management affects aim and the energy available for melee attacks. The setting mixes science fiction, folk horror, Cold War influences, mysticism, bizarre characters, cults, and rogue government agencies.
