Our take on 2064: Read Only Memories
Instead of treating point-and-click adventure as a fixed sequence of events, the game places conversational decisions at the center of its structure. Its classic investigation format is paired with branching developments and multiple endings, making the mystery’s direction depend on player choices.
What is 2064: Read Only Memories?
Set in a colorful, pixel-art Neo-San Francisco, this cyberpunk point-and-click adventure follows a journalist who encounters Turing, a ROM claiming to be the first sapient machine.
Exploration, conversations, challenges, and player choices form a mystery about identity, individuality, genetic alteration, and artificial intelligence. The narrative branches according to decisions and includes multiple endings. The game features a large cast of characters with voice performances, a lo-fi electronic synth soundtrack, and more than ten hours of adventure. The complete edition adds characters, voice performers, facial animations, Japanese language support, and the extended “Endless Christmas” epilogue, which lets players spend time with Neo-SF residents.
