Our take on VirtuaVerse
The premise presents a wide cyberpunk setting with many groups, technologies, and locations. Its central setup is narrower: Nathan investigates Jay’s disappearance after losing access to augmented reality, so the broader worldbuilding may overshadow the personal mystery.
What is VirtuaVerse?
VirtuaVerse is a point-and-click adventure set in a future where society is connected to one neural network managed by a dominant artificial intelligence.
Nathan, an outsider who smuggles modified hardware and cracked software, lives off the grid with Jay, an augmented-reality graffiti writer. After Jay disappears and leaves a cryptic message, Nathan’s custom headset breaks, disconnecting him from the integrated system. His search leads to Jay’s hacker group and a guild of augmented-reality technomancers. The journey moves through hardware graveyards, digital archaeology sites, cryptoshaman tribes, cyberwars, and virtual-reality settings. The story presents a cyberpunk world involving personal data processing, hacker groups, and people who reject the prevailing connected reality.
