We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelike players who want repeated tower-climbing runs with lasting upgrades
- Strategy players who enjoy managing a fixed number of actions
- Fantasy fans who prefer exploration in a boardgame-inspired setting
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want unrestricted time for each climb may hit the 100-action limit before reaching the top
- Players seeking a single uninterrupted progression path may dislike repeating runs to build permanent upgrades
- Players looking for a conventional fantasy adventure rather than a roguelike structure may find the run-based format unsuitable
Our take on 100 Steps
The bounce point arrives when the 100-action allowance runs out before the tower is conquered. Players who break the gods’ rules also face the point where their fury is awakened.
What is 100 Steps?
100 Steps is a roguelike tower crawler set in a fantasy boardgame world.
Each attempt gives 100 actions to reach the top of a tower, while breaking the gods’ rules awakens their fury. Players equip a character, face monsters, and turn the score from each climb into permanent upgrades. Later attempts combine those improvements with new feats as the ascent continues. Exploration includes interactions with unusual entities, secrets, and strategies connected to the tower. The presentation uses a minimal world with medieval-fantasy sights and sounds inspired by an analogue boardgame. Progress depends on choosing how to spend the limited actions during each run and building strength across repeated climbs.
