Our take on Zenodyne R
Rather than presenting a single fixed run, this shoot-'em-up uses branching routes and unlockable ships, biographies, lore, and credits. Its six-stage arcade structure remains familiar, but route selection and Tech Point rewards add progression choices between runs.
What is Zenodyne R?
Zenodyne R is a 90s-style shoot-'em-up built around six stages, boss encounters, and branching routes.
Players choose from five ships, each associated with a different pilot and play style, then use movement, shot, bomb, and alternate-fire controls to clear enemy patterns. Two difficulty settings provide different challenges. Clearing stages grants Tech Points, which can unlock ships, pilot biographies, lore, and extra credits. Taking the higher route can provide additional Tech Points. The game includes bullet patterns described as Blast Processing and a 25-track YM2612 soundtrack by Hal “HeavyViper” Binderman. Controls use the arrow keys, Z, X, and Shift by default and can be rebound.
