Our take on Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden
The card-based presentation keeps the world and its movement within a tabletop-like frame, but it also means the adventure is not presented as a conventional rendered environment. The game master's occasional vocal slips are part of that framing and may interrupt the narration.
What is Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden?
This RPG follows a girl seeking revenge on monsters after losing her home.
She joins a mysterious boy and travels into the unknown. The game presents its world, including towns, dungeons and fields, as cards, with a game master guiding the story. Players move avatars through these locations and fight battles where defeated monsters can be trapped in cards and used as skills. Dice rolls sometimes decide battle results, encounters and other events. A card game is also available at the town Game Parlour. The story is a standalone adventure, not a direct sequel to the other Voice of Cards titles. The game master may occasionally stumble, correct themselves or clear their throat during narration.
