SimulationIs Ultrawings worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who want to operate aircraft controls by hand
- Flight-game fans who want a mix of arcade-style flying and some realism
- Players who enjoy mission variety and unlocking aircraft and airports
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a highly realistic flight simulation may find the arcade-oriented flight model too limited.
- Players who want a large aircraft roster may find the four available aircraft restrictive.
- Players using a HOTAS joystick outside the seven officially supported models will not be able to use that joystick with the game.
- Players relying on virtual desktop will not be able to use that setup.
Our take on Ultrawings
The hardware check is the likely bounce point: an unlisted HOTAS joystick will not work, and virtual desktop is unsupported. Players without a gamepad, compatible tracked motion controllers, or one of the officially supported joystick models may be blocked from using their preferred controls.
What is Ultrawings?
Ultrawings is a virtual-reality flight game set across four stylized islands.
Players pilot four distinct aircraft using virtual hand controls, a gamepad, or supported HOTAS equipment. Missions include popping balloons, taking photos, racing, spot landings, and flying through score rings. Players earn money to buy airports that unlock mission types and to purchase aircraft. The islands include seagulls, other planes, boats, and cars. Supported controls include HTC Vive Wands, Oculus Touch, Windows MR tracked motion controllers, rudder pedals, gamepads, and seven named HOTAS joysticks. The game provides full English voice-overs. Virtual desktop is not supported, and HOTAS joysticks outside the officially supported list will not work with the game.
