Our take on Time Rifters
The single-player co-op framing can suggest conventional team play, but the cooperative element comes from ghosts of earlier runs and uploaded replays. The listing does identify this as asynchronous multiplayer, so the distinction is present, though it is easy to overlook beside the co-op emphasis.
What is Time Rifters?
Time Rifters is a single-player shooter built around asynchronous cooperation with previous versions of the player character.
Each run provides four lives; after each death, a ghost from that life joins the next attempt while enemies remain targets. The game includes six weapons that can be upgraded, three episodes containing five arenas each, score tables, and an original soundtrack. The Let’s Replay mode uses ghosts uploaded by other players through Steam Workshop. Workshop content also includes community arenas and recorded replays. Players can create custom rooms, arenas, levels, and replays with the in-game editor tools. A Daily Challenge combines user-created rooms into a high-score activity, and the challenge update is available to all owners.
