Play it if you…
Good fit- Rogue-lite players who want each run to take place in a randomly generated world
- Action RPG fans who want defeated enemies to become part of their fighting force
- Players who enjoy adjusting tactics for bosses with different abilities
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a fixed world layout may hit a wall when each run generates a different map.
- Players who prefer enemies that pose little resistance may struggle when groups retaliate with strong abilities.
- Players looking for a predominantly conversational adventure may find combat and army management take center stage.
Our take on The Unliving
The first hard stop is likely a run where enemy groups push back: advancing means managing an army while responding to opponents with their own abilities. Players who want a stable route may hit another wall when the next run rearranges the world.
What is The Unliving?
Play as a necromancer who raises defeated enemies to build an army of undead, with different creatures bringing distinct abilities.
Cast spells and lead the army against living opponents, who can fight back with groups and strong abilities. Each run takes place in a randomly generated world containing creatures, artefacts, secret rooms, and traps, with areas ranging from villages to dangerous swamps. Bosses have individual combat styles and abilities, calling for changes in tactics. Between battles, meet allies and enemies, question members of the necromantic cult, and gather the necromancer’s lost memories to learn about his immortality. Death is not the end of a run: the necromancer can return and use what he learned to avoid repeating the same defeat.
