Our take on Hammerting
The colony-management focus trades direct adventure pacing for planning underground production, transport, and exploration. Character differences add management decisions, but also make the experience less focused on a single heroic protagonist.
What is Hammerting?
Hammerting is a vertical mining-colony simulation with RPG elements, set in the mountains of Mara.
Players manage a clan of Dwarves, expand underground operations, gather materials, and craft weapons and equipment for allies fighting on the surface. The colony grows from a small group into a larger operation, with conveyors and elevators reducing manual work. Individual Dwarves have distinct statistics, ancestry, traits, abilities, equipment, and experiences that shape their strengths and weaknesses. Deeper areas contain rarer resources and greater hazards, while mechanisms support movement through the caves. Liquid and physics systems include pumping lava, brewing beer, and using torches to illuminate shafts. The colony can be managed alone or with other players in online cooperative play.
How Hammerting plays
- 01Vertical Colony Management
- Expand an underground settlement through mining, transport systems, resource gathering, and production.
- 02Dwarf Specialization
- Each clan member has individual attributes, heritage, traits, abilities, equipment, and life events.
- 03Surface Deliveries
- Fulfill requests from allies by producing weapons and other equipment for the conflict above.
- 04Dynamic Cave Systems
- Underground areas use liquids and physics for activities such as moving lava, brewing beer, and lighting shafts.
- 05Online Cooperative Play
- Multiple players can jointly operate and populate the Dwarven colony.
