Our take on We Are The Dwarves
The active-pause structure trades uninterrupted action flow for deliberate planning. Players spend part of each encounter arranging commands and coordinating the three astronauts, so the game’s tactical control comes at the cost of a continuously moving combat rhythm.
What is We Are The Dwarves?
Lead three Dwarven astronauts—Forcer, Smashfist, and Shadow—through the depths of a stone universe in search of a new star as their race faces extinction.
The action-based tactical adventure uses active pause, slowing time so commands can be arranged and carried out in sequence. Each character has a distinct combat role: Forcer uses ranged attacks and timed setups, Smashfist fights at close range, and Shadow performs assassinations and precision archery. Their abilities and talents can be developed through separate skill trees, with customization ranging from stealth to direct attacks. Encounters include hostile creatures, new civilizations, and ancient monsters. Enemies can respond to movement, background noise, and scent.
How We Are The Dwarves plays
- 01Three Playable Dwarves
- Forcer, Smashfist, and Shadow use different approaches, including ranged attacks, close combat, assassinations, and archery.
- 02Individual Skill Trees
- Separate progression paths let each astronaut develop abilities toward stealth-focused or direct-combat styles.
- 03Queued Command System
- Active pause slows events while a sequence of orders is prepared for later execution.
- 04Reactive Enemies
- Opponents can detect movement, environmental noise, and scent during encounters.
