Our take on The Inquisitor
The defining structure is a chain of investigations in which evidence gathering, interrogation methods, and final judgments shape a branching story. Entering the Unworld adds a separate realm for uncovering secrets hidden within suspects.
What is The Inquisitor?
Play as Mordimer Madderdin, an Inquisitor sent to Koenigstein to investigate crimes, mysteries, and suspected violations of the faith.
The game combines story-driven investigations with sword combat and difficult moral decisions. Track suspects, question them using methods chosen by the player, gather evidence, and deliver judgments across multiple cases and missions. Mordimer can also enter the Unworld, a dangerous realm containing hidden truths about the people he investigates. Branching choices shape the story and define whether the Inquisitor follows mercy or retribution. The setting presents an alternative religious history in which an army of Inquisitors enforces a violent faith 1500 years after Jesus survived the crucifixion.
How The Inquisitor plays
- 01Branching Casework
- Multiple investigations and missions let choices influence the story and the fate of judged characters.

- 03Interrogation Choices
- Suspects can be questioned with different levels of force during optional investigation scenes.
- 04Sword Combat
- Fights use a blade-focused system involving openings and opponents’ weak points.
