Our take on The Sheltered
The defining structure is the shelter decision: every potential resident, including animals, creates a moral choice about whom to admit while the survivor searches for additional supplies.
What is The Sheltered?
The Sheltered is a top-down adventure game about exploration, resource gathering, and difficult choices during a deadly outbreak.
After collecting enough supplies for the shelter, the survivor decides which people and animals to admit while searching the surrounding land for additional food and water. Each survivor requires supplies during their stay, making every invitation a trade-off between survival and morals. Characters remember past decisions and respond accordingly, while puzzles offer multiple solutions with consequences. The game presents a non-linear story with over seven possible endings, an explorable apocalyptic landscape containing secrets, and monsters that can be fought, avoided, or outwitted. Its simple gameplay and old-school graphics support a story centered on the consequences of deciding who to save.
