Is Disciples: Domination worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy RPG players who want kingdom decisions tied to faction reactions
- Turn-based combat fans who enjoy building squads from multiple factions
- Dark fantasy players who prefer story choices with political and supernatural consequences
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a light or purely combat-focused experience may find the ruling, reputation, and story systems demanding.
- Those wanting short, self-contained battles may not suit a campaign built around exploration, quests, and continuing decisions.
- Players looking specifically for real-time strategy may prefer a game built around live tactical control rather than turn-based encounters.
Our take on Disciples: Domination
The game combines kingdom management, exploration, narrative choices, and tactical battles, so its focus is spread across several systems rather than concentrated on combat alone. Players seeking a narrowly focused strategy experience trade away that broader campaign structure.
What is Disciples: Domination?
Disciples: Domination is a dark fantasy strategy RPG about ruling Nevendaar from the capital of Yllian.
Choices affect faction reputation, companions, and how the wider world responds. Armies fight in tactical, grid-based, turn-based encounters with faction abilities, unit synergies, strengths, and weaknesses. Units from five factions can be recruited, upgraded, combined into squads, and trained for battle. Companions provide combat abilities and other skills, while real-time exploration reveals regions, characters, enemies, and quests. The story follows Avyanna as she faces political collapse, conspiracies, dark magic, an ancient cult, the return of the Mountain Clans, and renewed threats from former enemies.

Disciples: Domination compared to similar games
Disciples: Domination combines kingdom decisions, real-time exploration, faction reputation, and turn-based grid battles, while Shogun Showdown centers on positioning, attack tiles, deck building, and repeated runs against the Shogun. Shogun Showdown also uses a roguelike structure in which defeat begins another run, unlike the kingdom campaign described for Disciples: Domination.
