Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly focused activity may find the combination of sailing events, trading, exploration, collection, and character stories diffuse.
- Players looking for a sailing game centered only on ship cannon action may find its trading, discoveries, hazards, and crew systems take substantial space.
- Players seeking cooperative or multiplayer play are not the target audience for this single-player game.
Our take on The Age of Navigation
The game gives up a narrow sailing focus in favor of several interconnected activities, including character stories, trade, port development, hazards, discoveries, ships, and crew recruitment. That breadth may leave less room for players who want one dominant gameplay system.
What is The Age of Navigation?
The Age of Navigation is a single-player game centered on sailing and exploration.
It offers four protagonists, each with a different birthplace, main story, and story companions. Voyages include hazards such as malnutrition, sepsis, fires, and rodent infestations, as well as encounters with non-player forces from around the world. The open sailing world contains historic sites, shipwrecks, treasures, and other discoveries. More than 160 ports support trading and investment; developing a port can expand its goods inventory and add commodities. Players can select from multiple ship types, improve ship cannons through port armament, recruit more than 60 crew members, collect over 50 ships, and pursue more than 500 discoveries.
