Combat includes encounters with drones, fighters, dreadnoughts, capital ships, and bosses. Optional activities add bounties, asteroid mining, mineral sales, relic hunting, and ship crafting. Minerals can be used for crafting or sold, while recovered blueprints and relics contribute to unlocking new vessels. Ships can be enhanced with weapons and upgrades. The story follows contractor Sgt. Jed Riddle as he investigates a mining facility that has stopped communicating. Exploration takes place across sectors with different locations and atmospheres, and the game supports gamepads.
