Is Lost Fleet worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Co-op groups of up to five friends who want shared fleet combat
- Space-shooter players who want to alternate between mining, escort, and capital-ship roles
- Solo players who want campaign missions with AI-controlled fleet members
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a single fixed character or ship may lose interest when missions require changing fleet roles
- Those looking for a quiet or slow-paced experience may bounce off the fast combat and ongoing mothership defense
- Players wanting a story-focused adventure rather than resource gathering and fleet battles may find the scope narrow
- Players seeking climbing, puzzle, or roguelite shooting games will find those structures elsewhere
Our take on Lost Fleet
The bounce point arrives when fleet management becomes part of the fight. Players who want to remain in one preferred ship may resist the need to switch roles, while those uninterested in protecting and supplying the mothership may lose the campaign’s central objective.
What is Lost Fleet?
Lost Fleet is a cooperative space shooter built around managing a mobile fleet.
Players can pilot more than 20 ships, ranging from drones and fighters to battleships and dreadnaughts, while switching roles during missions. Mining ships gather resources, gunships protect the fleet, and capital ships engage in large-scale battles. The mothership must be defended and supplied as the fleet moves through unfamiliar territory across eight worlds. Campaign mode supports single-player and cooperative play with up to five friends. Skirmish mode creates custom maps for battles involving any mix of human players and bots. The fleet’s other ships can be controlled by AI when a player changes roles.

Lost Fleet compared to similar games
