Our take on Sub-Verge
The conversation-centered design trades broad exploration and sustained action for a compact sequence of social decisions. The limited setting and short format keep attention on diver relationships, but leave less room for extended world traversal or mechanical variety.
What is Sub-Verge?
Sub-Verge is a short narrative puzzle set aboard the failing submersible SubVee.
Players choose a mission and navigate conversations with a divided group of deep-sea divers, using clues and timing to gain agreement, reveal secrets, and guide the group toward survival. Two factions offer different alliances: the Surfacers and rebels from an underwater base. The sub fills with water while the eldritch Krake threatens the divers, who scatter whenever it appears. Decisions can lead to escape, disappearance, or death, with multiple routes through the story. A separate DLC includes Subtle Mind, a 74-page illustrated PDF novella about The Mind and the events leading to the game.
