Our take on Strategic Command: American Civil War
Rather than focusing only on battlefield orders, this strategy game also puts army formation, research, production and diplomacy into the command role. Its campaign scope reaches beyond the main front through river warfare, possible European intervention and events in Mexico.
What is Strategic Command: American Civil War?
This turn-based strategy title places players in charge of Union or Confederate forces in the American Civil War.
Its scope includes raising and structuring troops, technological development, manufacturing, foreign policy and issuing combat commands. Recruits can form Brigades, Divisions and Corps under selected Generals. Cavalry, infantry scouts, rangers, armoured trains and observation balloons support efforts to find enemy forces. River warships travel inland routes, alongside coastal and ocean-going naval units. Six campaigns present varied eras and situations, including a hypothetical war with Britain. Diplomatic choices and events may draw European countries into the conflict, which can spread south into Mexico. Campaign and modification tools are available through an editor, while several map presentations include the traditional style.
