Our take on Rule the Waves 3
Rather than centering on direct battlefield control, this strategy game makes ship design, procurement, diplomacy, research, and fleet administration central parts of play. Naval battles remain important, but they sit inside a long campaign that follows technological change from steam-era warships to missile vessels.
What is Rule the Waves 3?
This naval strategy simulation places the player in command of a national navy from 1890 through 1970.
Campaigns begin in 1890, 1900, 1920, or 1935 and proceed through monthly strategic turns, with battles handled through tactical naval engagements. Players create ships from corvettes to battleships and aircraft carriers, manage budgets, construction, training, maintenance, deployment, and operations, and respond to political figures, treaties, espionage, research, and historical events. Submarines, airships, aircraft, and missiles enter the technological progression. Coastal fortifications, airbases, and other defenses can also be built. Playable nations include the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Russia, Italy, Japan, Spain, Austria-Hungary, and China.
