We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Shoot'em up fans who want fixed-direction flying and boss encounters
- Retro action players who want four difficulty settings
- Players seeking a stage-based arcade structure with aircraft upgrades
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking open exploration or branching routes may hit a wall with the fixed one-direction flight path.
- Players who dislike repeated dodging, shooting, and boss encounters may bounce off the frantic stage structure.
- Players looking for a broad selection of aircraft may find the two available craft limiting.
Our take on Steel Empire
The bounce point arrives when lives and continues run out: the current attempt ends, and the stage must be restarted from an earlier point. Players who prefer forgiving progression may stop there, especially on higher difficulty settings.
What is Steel Empire?
Steel Empire is a side-scrolling shoot'em up set in a steampunk world.
Players fly in one direction through seven stages, firing forward or backward while avoiding hazards and enemy attacks. The game offers four difficulty settings and two aircraft: the fast Etopirica fighter and the slower, more resistant Zappellon zeppelin. Levels are divided into stages, with a boss at the end of each level. Lives and continues support each run, while power-ups provide experience, health, bombs, or extra lives.
Experience can raise firepower through a system with up to 20 levels. After completing a level, players can switch craft, continue with the current one, watch a replay, or save progress. The game also includes Replay Mode, Steam Achievements, Trading Cards, and full controller support.
