Our take on Soulslinger
The auto-runner format keeps movement and combat focused on rapid decisions, but gives up the exploration and flexible positioning found in slower action games. Its five-stage structure is supplemented by endless mode rather than a broader campaign.
What is Soulslinger?
Soulslinger is an auto runner set in the Underworld, where Alice moves through hazards, attacks enemies with a Soulblaster, and advances faster by destroying more along the way.
Reaping enemies restores Soulvolver ammunition. Permanent blessings and curses add distinct effects, while temporary pies provide situational abilities. The game includes three difficulty settings, five stages with individual bosses, three special Soulblasters, five pie varieties, five character skins, more than 20 hats, and an endless mode. Movement and attacks support keyboard, mouse, or controller input. Holding the attack button enables autoswing, and weapons can be switched during play.
How Soulslinger plays
- 01Permanent power effects
- Blessings and curses remain active and each provides its own effect.
- 02Temporary pie effects
- Five pie varieties offer consumable effects intended for specific moments.
- 03Boss stage structure
- The main progression contains five stages, each ending with its own boss.
- 04Endless mode
- A separate mode extends play beyond the five-stage progression.
- 05Multiple weapon choices
- Three special Soulblasters can be used, with weapon switching available during play.
- 06Controller support
- Movement, aiming, attacks, weapon changes, and pie use can be assigned to controller inputs.
Soulslinger compared to similar games
SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER is also a runner with shooting, but its description centers on jumping, dodging, and destroying enemies, while Soulslinger adds permanent blessings and curses, temporary pies, weapon switching, boss stages, and an endless mode. Intralism focuses on rhythm input, custom beatmaps, and online multiplayer rather than auto-running combat and collectible power-ups.
