Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a non-linear RPG about ruling and expanding the Empire of Varennes across successive generations.
Players choose emperors from characters representing more than 30 classes, with inherited knowledge and abilities passing between rulers. The story changes according to decisions, expansion goals, and the order in which the Seven Heroes are challenged. Combat uses turn-based battles with a timeline, learnable abilities discovered during fights, formations based on party composition, and combination attacks.
The remake presents towns, dungeons, and characters in 3D while retaining the original game's visual identity. Three difficulty levels range from story-focused Casual to Hard (Classic). Japanese and English voice acting accompany event scenes, and the soundtrack can switch between original and rearranged versions.
