Our take on Rogue Lords
Rather than keeping the player within a standard hero’s role, the game casts them as the Devil and gives them ways to alter game rules by spending health. Its run structure still uses team management, events and turn-based fights, but the player can also interfere with health bars and event outcomes.
What is Rogue Lords?
Rogue Lords is a dark fantasy roguelike in which the player takes the role of the Devil and leads a team of three Disciples.
The roster includes figures such as Dracula, Bloody Mary, Lilith and Frankenstein. Runs combine interactive events with turn-based combat against Demon Hunters. Disciples have individual abilities and stories; collecting souls lets the team gain skills, upgrades and relics. The Devil can spend health to manipulate parts of the game, including health bars, status effects, map portals and event outcomes.
Winning fights and completing events raises a terror gauge, which grants bonuses to Disciples. Events also affect the influence of the Sanctua Lumen. The story follows the Devil’s return from exile to reclaim power by gathering ancient artefacts.
