Our take on Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss
Rather than centering on combat or straightforward exploration, the game treats investigation, sanity, and interpretation as its main progression tools. Its branching case structure replaces a single fixed route, while the sunken-city setting shifts Lovecraftian horror into a futuristic underwater environment.
What is Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss?
Set in 2053, this first-person investigative horror adventure follows Noah, an occult investigator assigned to find miners who vanished from a Pacific mining station.
Working with the AI companion Key, Noah explores R'lyeh, an ancient city beneath the ocean, while confronting nightmares, cosmic creatures, and the effects of Cthulhu's influence. The game combines clue gathering, detective work, complex puzzles, hidden routes, and choices that shape how the case unfolds. Its branching narrative presents multiple paths through the investigation, with cinematic storytelling and characters connected to Ancile, an occult division of Interpol. Environments use Unreal Engine 5 and include spaces that distort ordinary physical laws.
