Our take on The Miskatonic
Rather than using a conventional horror tone, the game places its occult university and cosmic creatures inside a dark comedy. Its kinetic visual-novel format is paired with open hub areas, replacing a purely linear presentation with exploration between story interactions.
What is The Miskatonic?
The Miskatonic is a darkly comic story game presented through illustrated, choice-driven scenes in a world shaped by Lovecraftian aftermath.
It centers on Charlotte LeStrange, an ex-member of a witch cult whose eyes can alter minds, as she begins work at Miskatonic University. Her assignments involve serving altered professors and watching over the Occult Science department. Players move through connected campus districts and meet many unusual figures, from malformed employees and intrusive researchers to cosmic entities known as Dunwichers. A disturbing plot gradually emerges beneath the university’s bizarre surface, drawing Charlotte from inexperienced witchcraft toward investigative occult work. The setting includes a ruined Innsmouth, a permanently trapped Cthulhu, and a cannibal-controlled England.
